RoboSense, a manufacturer of smart lidar sensor systems, has announced the launch of an upgraded 128-beam lidar, RS-Ruby Plus, designed for commercial autonomous driving operations.
According to RoboSense, the RS-Ruby Plus’ new modular architecture design reduces its size and weight by 50% compared with its previous generation, and cuts power consumption by 33% to 30W.
The company claims its RS-Ruby product has supported Momenta, IdriverPlus, DeepRoute.ai, AutoX, Mushroom Car Alliance and over thousands RoboTaxi fleets in pilot commercial operations.
Six upgrades of the RS-Ruby Plus include:
- A new architecture design for RS-Ruby Plus with reference to automotive-grade standards to ensure that the product passes reliability tests, including mechanical shock, random vibration and low temperature operation
- An overall detection range improved by 20% and a high-performance mode in which Ruby Plus can increase the horizontal angular resolution of 128 channels from 0.2° to 0.1° at a 10Hz refresh rate
- Improved detection capability for black-painted vehicles and road lines
- A more accurate lidar, finer imaging and more precise understanding of the shape of small objects
- Comprehensive anti-interference technology, powered by laser encryption
- An automotive ethernet interface, which supports both GPS synchronisation and network synchronisation (PTP and gPTP time synchronisation) protocols, reducing data transmission delay and simplifying cable layout.
