US robotics firm Acieta has announced the launch of its new collaborative robotic system for welding.
The FastARC welding cobot features a Fanuc CRX-10iA/L 6-axis robot mounted on a mobile platform.
According to its developers, the cobot takes on simpler welding tasks, thereby freeing up skilled welders – which are reportedly are in short supply – for more complex welding tasks.
The system, which is compatible with Fronius, Lincoln Electric and Miller welding units, has been designed to work safely alongside human workers, ceasing operations if a robotic arm makes contact with a human worker.
Improving productivity, one person can operate several FastARC cobots at once.
Steve Alexander, vice president of WI operations at Acieta, said: “Typical FastARC cobot users see ROI in as little as six months – based on 2 shifts, because they are making more product at a much lower cost per part.
“The FastARC CW is a pre-engineered standard product that helps us keep costs low and helps user stay more competitive.
“Plus, it’s in stock and ready for quick delivery and financing options are available to keep initial capital expenses low.”
