Stellantis, a leading global automaker, has opened a new Mopar Parts distribution centre in Brampton, Ontario that features automation solutions from warehouse robotics specialist Swisslog.
Spanning 513,000ft2, the new facility holds nearly 55,000 Mopar brand service parts and can process up to two million orders annually, Swisslog said in a statement.
The site serves Stellantis dealerships and customers in the Greater Toronto area, Quebec, and Eastern Canada.
This distribution centre is notable for being the first Stellantis facility in North America to incorporate AutoStore technology, powered by Swisslog.
The automation system, guided by Swisslog’s SynQ software, employs 27 robots to retrieve parts from 43,000 bins across 11,700ft2 of storage.
Swisslog automation experts reportedly collaborated closely with Stellantis to tailor this system to meet the company’s operational needs and business goals.
The opening ceremony featured Colman Roche, VP of AutoStore Solutions at Swisslog Americas, along with three other Swisslog team members. They highlighted the automation system’s innovative features and capabilities.
Stellantis emphasised that the new facility marks a significant milestone in their ongoing investment in operational excellence. The automation system is designed to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of parts procurement, supporting the company’s workforce and commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
