Logistics provider DHL Supply Chain has been appointed by Kopparberg UK, a Swedish brewery and cider company, in a new three-year contract, which will be spearheaded at the automation-led facility at Manton Wood, North Nottinghamshire.
The partnership means DHL will oversee the warehouse, co-pack and transport business for Kopparberg in the UK.
The facilities’ automation capabilities can reportedly handle 75% of overall site volume, which DHL claims makes it highly efficient during a period when recruiting skilled labour is increasingly challenging.
From its new facility at Manton Wood, DHL has developed a highly-automated system solution for Kopparberg’s UK distribution, which included transferring 8,000 pallets from its previous provider.
The collaboration will aim to combine automated solutions with DHL’s logistical experience to manage Kopparberg’s business needs, with the companies claiming to have already successfully navigated Kopparberg’s peak season.
John Greer, head of supply chain, Kopparberg UK said: “We’re delighted to be working with DHL and the partnership is off to a strong start.
“We chose DHL because of its industry expertise and automation capabilities to help us optimise our distribution operations as our business grows.”
Jim Hartshorne, MD retail, consumer and Ireland, DHL Supply Chain said: “It’s been a pleasure working with the Kopparberg team to deliver a successful implementation and we look forward to developing our partnership over many years to come.
“The advanced, intelligent automation at Manton Wood is perfectly positioned to deliver an excellent service to Kopparberg and offer smooth and secure peak management.”
The site is BREEAM-rated as ‘Very Good’ and is equipped with a range of environmental features, such as solar panels and a rainwater harvesting system.
