AMP Robotics, a US-based AI and robotics company for the waste and recycling industry, has expanded its partnership with Waste Connections, which provides non-hazardous waste collection, transfer and disposal services.
Since late 2020, Waste Connections has booked or deployed 50 of AMP’s robotics systems on plastic, fibre and residue lines.

AMP’s technology identifies plastics, cardboard, paper, cans, cartons and many other packaging types and reclaims them for raw material processing.
Precise separation of plastics and other recyclables can be achieved through AI-driven sorting technology, which helps recover materials for the global supply chain.
Some of AMP’s work in this field includes the development of the AMP Cortex high-speed robotics system, which automates the identification and sorting of recyclables from mixed material streams.
As well as this, there’s AMP’s Neuron AI platform, which continuously trains itself by recognising different colours, textures, shapes, sizes, patterns and brand labels to identify materials’ recyclability. Neuron then guides robots to sort the material to be recycled.
AMP claims the technology is helping recyclers meet growing demand for sufficient quantities of premium recycled material requested by brands and packaging producers.
