Warehouse robotics company Movu Robotics has installed its escala order fulfilment solution for an electrification company in Skien, Norway.
ABB Electrification Norway AS signed a contract with LIS, Movu Robotics’ distributor in Norway.
The company needed to make better use of space by moving the storage component out of production and supplying its assembly space via smaller blocks at a time.
The compact AS/RS (automated storage and retrieval system) is equipped with mobile robots that move in three dimensions to pick goods.

It was developed to help ease firms into to complex automation, while also providing the adaptability of handling goods of different types and sizes.
When fully installed, the system will be 22.5-metres long, 11-metres wide and 14-metres high and contain approximately 6,000 locations.
According to Movu, it can reportedly collect the whole product catalogue with just one system, with the robots automatically moving between storage and production. This means they pick and deliver assembled kits rather than individual items.
Previously, such kits had to be left outside and took up a lot of floor space in thw production area.
¨Success in robotics isn’t just about building advanced machines; it’s also about delivering accessible and reliable solutions. And it’s about forging successful partnerships,” said Stefan Pieters, CEO of Movu Robotics.
“Innovation thrives when teams like Movu and LIS come together, combining diverse expertise and perspectives from which the customer benefits in the end. Thanks to our smooth collaboration with LIS, we were able to deliver to the expectations of ABB!¨ said Stefan Pieters, CEO of Movu Robotics.
Movu Robotics will be exhibiting at Stand 532 at Robotics and Automation Exhibition. Register to attend now!
