International logistics provider Dachser has opened a new fully-automated high-bay warehouse in Memmingen, Germany, with intralogistics automation solutions provided by storage solutions specialist Kardex.
Some of the solutions implemented at the site include eight of Kardex’s MSingle B1000/33-ZT stacker cranes, a conveying system with approximately 260 drives, two transfer carriages and a vertical conveyor.
The intralogistics solutions firm has said it will also be providing life cycle service, spare parts supply, maintenance, on-site services and a dedicated hotline to support the efficient running of the facility.
Other solutions introduced include the Kardex Control Center, which includes Kardex’s warehouse management system (WMS) and Kardex MVisu. The system was developed to manage material flow and warehouse management processes, and provides additional functions such as smart energy management for the automated stacker cranes and system visualisation.

“We are very happy with the expert advice and the high-quality construction work carried out by Kardex Mlog,” said Thomas Henkel, general manager at the Dachser Allgäu logistics centre.
“During the entire course of the project, we knew we were in safe hands with the very experienced and helpful Kardex Mlog employees.”
Dachser has said sustainability is a key priority across its operations and that the new site represents its commitment to climate ambitions.
A photovoltaic system on the roof of the building provides a sustainable power supply for the warehouse and was installed to actively reduce the site’s overall carbon emissions.
Rainwater is also re-used and channelled into the groundwater on the company premises, with the intention of minimising water consumption and conserving natural resources.
A major component of the facility’s design was to enable storage of the maximum number of pallets possible, Kardex added.
Kardex will be exhibiting at Stand 732 at Robotics & Automation Exhibition 2024. The latest developments in robotics and automated technologies will be on show at this event, which will be held on 19-20 March 2024 at the NEC Birmingham.
