Preston-based homeware retailer Silver Mushroom has selected mobile computing solutions provider TouchStar to upgrade the hardware used for its warehouse picking operations.
Silver Mushroom was established in 2011 and opened a third-party fulfilment centre with CK Fulfilment last year.
To support picking operations at the site, Silver Mushroom decided to use TouchStar to upgrade to rugged mobile computers from technology manufacturer Zebra Technologies (Zebra).
The computing solutions provider offers end-users, software houses, resellers and systems integrators with rugged and ATEX computers to support industries such as warehousing and logistics, manufacturing and ports.
Its service offering ranges from consultation, project management to support packages, including helpdesk, accidental damage cover, on-site problem solving and call out services from engineers.
Tony Barnes, operations director at Silver Mushroom, said: “We selected TouchStar to support us with the upgrade due to their experience and solid reputation within the industry.
“We were looking for a more robust and user-friendly device to replace our existing devices which were prone to damage.
“Not only were they able to help us select the right hardware, but the support they provided in getting us up and running has been exceptional.”
TouchStar recommended the use of Zebra’s TC21 handheld touch computer, describing the TC21 as lightweight, easy to carry and to operate and that it is well-suited for the retailer’s intended purpose.
TouchStar (Stand i406) and Zebra Technologies (i820) will be at the co-located Robotics and Automation and IntraLogisteX on 28-29 March 2023 at the NEC Birmingham. For more information, visit www.roboticsandautomation.co.uk and www.intralogistex.co.uk.
