Caja Robotics and international industrial engineering group Fives have announced a partnership to strengthen their respective offerings in warehouse automation.
Caja claims its solution is complementary to Fives’ technology portfolio and that it will help Fives to expand its piece-picking offering and address the demands of omnichannel automation in the apparel and footwear sector.
It has designed a solution for the scalable automation of warehouse logistics applications, which uses robots, picking stations and AI-supported software.
Controlled by Caja’s cloud-based fleet management system, the robots transport objects between picking stations and shelves to optimise goods management and warehouse operations.
According to Caja, its technology can both be adapted to the existing warehouse structure and re-adapted at a later date to reflect changing needs.
The solution was designed for industries with the particular requirements of fluctuating throughput figures, such as e-commerce and retail.
Massimiliano Fochetti, global EVP of sales and marketing for Fives’ smart automation solutions division, said: “Automated warehouses are a competitive advantage for mastering the challenges of the future.
“Our customers also see it that way, which is why we want to proactively develop solutions for their requirements together with Caja Robotics.”
The robotics firm sees Fives’ Southern European influence as something that can boost its presence in these markets.
The pair also claim that Fives’ in-house experience and resources will help Caja Robotics to tailor solutions to a variety of customer and market needs.
