AI-powered robotic sorting and stacking solution provider Ambi Robotics has unveiled a robotic system designed to to automate the stacking of items onto pallets or into containers.
The AmbiStack system is able to stack high-density mixed SKUs, to reduce downstream transportation costs.
The solution is designed to also alleviate the burden of repetitive motions which could lead to injuries in some employees, allowing them to work instead as ‘robot operators’ where they can assist robotic operations when needed.
The system’s AI vision capabilities are based on foundation models and are built on knowledge from more than 200,000 operational hours of high-fidelity-focused data.
This allow it to track and pick each item while performing control checks.
The AI planning system within it eliminates the need for real world data collection.
Jim Liefer, CEO of Ambi Robotics, said: “Logistics companies are under continuous pressure to deliver items faster and for lower cost, which puts a lot of strain on operations to maintain reliability while rapidly adapting for the future.”
Adding, Jeff Mahler, co-founder and CTO of Ambi Robotics, said: “We’ve initiated the AI flywheel for stacking with Sim2Real reinforcement learning, and performance will only improve as robots collect data from production environments. As proven by our AmbiSort A-Series technology, which has improved over 55% since launching.”
