Automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) maker Hwarobotics has installed a system for third-party logistics provider Darwynn at its Toronto site.
Darwynn provides end-to-end logistics services through an integrated e-commerce platform and semi-automated smart warehouse.
The developer of the AS/RS installed at Darwynn’s site has said it is as a multi-level shuttle system with 24 carts, six cart elevators and 10,368 storage locations.
Stage one of the project saw the site’s storage configured as three double-deep aisles with eight levels. This was done to achieve parallel operation of multiple shuttle carts, with the system likewise being fitted with picking stations and WCS systems.
The Toronto site reportedly handles 20,000 individual SKUs, with the automated solution intended to support the 3PL’s commercial growth.
Hwarobotics added that its AS/RS has increased Darwynn’s throughput to 2,400 bins per hour, while also expanding storage capacity, bettering space utilisation, reducing error rates and optimising inventory management.
“This project delivered an efficient, reliable, user-friendly and easily-maintained multi-level shuttle AS/RS warehouse system,” said Sky Chen, general manager, Hwarobotics.
“We are very pleased with the system performance so far and the potential the solution offers to Darwynn for further expansion.
“Leveraging our extensive experience in supply chain efficiencies across the Asia-Pacific region, Hwarobotics is an ideal partner for companies in North America, offering our full range of shuttle robot products.”
Some of Darwynn’s customers include Shein and Robotics and Automation Exhibitor Bosch.
