Percepto has been selected by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to participate in new Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC), which aims to develop a regulatory path for standard BVLOS drone operations.
The autonomous inspection robotics company has also been approved as an official partner of the upcoming FAA symposium. It is also one of just six unmanned aerial systems (UAS) manufacturers selected to join the BVLOS ARC.
“Percepto is deeply committed to gaining BVLOS and other regulatory approvals throughout the world to enable safe and scalable autonomous drone operations,” said Dor Abuhasira, CEO of Percepto.
“Seeking regulatory change for UAS is vital for the industry to grow and for clients and their respective industries to utilize Percepto’s systems and UAS flight benefits fully.”
During the U.S. wildfires in 2020 a Percepto Sparrow drone was used to inspect critical communications infrastructure 24 hours a day with less than three miles of visibility, all from a remote location and with no observer on site.
Furthermore, in Australia Percepto’s Sparrow has an EVLOS waiver from CASA, allowing it to fly within 1,500m of multiple observers, with full BVLOS flight is expected later this year.
