The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Cyprus has upgraded its C-Astral Aerospace drone system for search and rescue (SAR) operations on both land and sea.
Having used the Bramor C4EYE system for over four years, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre worked with the C-Astral team to enhance its solution, which is integrated into a mobile van as a rapidly deployable tactical operations centre.
It said the initial objective was to extend the optical surveillance beyond its existing network of the stationary vessel traffic surveillance system.
C-Astral engineers have upgraded the legacy system to the latest EO/IR payload EYEX HD2 and enhanced the communications to new digital IP link extending the ranges up to 50km LOS.
The upgraded system now provides a multirole platform covering SAR, naval traffic control and fire surveillance.
