Dronamics, developer and operator of large cargo drones, has announced the appointment of former head of Royal Mail Parcels, Roger Morris.
Morris will join them as chief product officer, a new senior management team position. He will be responsible for all customer and product activities across the business.
According to the London-based company, Morris has an enviable reputation in the delivery industry, having filled a variety of senior roles in Royal Mail Parcels and DHL Express, with extensive customer engagement and international responsibilities.
As Head of Royal Mail Parcels, Morris was responsible for the redesign and re-launch of Royal Mail’s parcel products, which deliver over half of the market volume in the UK, Europe’s largest e-commerce market.
Svilen Rangelov, CEO at Dronamics, said: “This is an important milestone for us, and we are thrilled by the talent we are attracting to our organisation that is embracing our vision to democratise airfreight. We will continue enhancing our experienced management team who will provide additional expertise to deliver our first commercial flight in a near future.”
Dronamic’s Black Swan unmanned aircraft is able to carry 350kg of cargo at a distance of up to 2,500km. The operator added the drone can lower the cost of any cargo aircraft in existence by 80%, enabling same-day shipping over very long distances for e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, and time-critical shipments.
Furthermore, the drone is designed to reduce the carbon footprint of fast delivery by up to 70%.
