Warehouse management software company Ehrhardt Partner Group (EPG) has announced a collaboration with Greenplan, which specialises in route planning management, in the hopes of increasing the efficiency of route planning in logistics.
The pair’s cooperation is intended to support EPG’s expansion of its transport management software (TMS) offering, specifically its development of an algorithm for automatic route calculation and planning, named the Automatic Routing and Scheduling Solution.
EPG will be showcasing its solutions at Stand 300 at IntralogisteX 2023, which will be co-located with Robotics and Automation 2023.
“With the EPG, we can now also offer a complete TMS solution in addition to perfect tour planning,” said Clemens Beckman, CEO of Greenplan.
“That and EPG’s global presence will help us to achieve our ambitious growth targets.”
In 2020, Beckmann and Florian Merget co-founded Greenplan as a subsidiary of DHL.
The adoption of route planning into the software firm’s portfolio is the result of EPG’s prior collaboration with Greenplan on joint logistics projects. It also means that EPG customers will be able to use Greenplan’s TMS, which is hoped to strengthen the market position of both.
Some of the resulting impact on EPG’s product offering could include the broadening of applications to include use in transport services. An example of this could be use of the workforce management system WFM by those working in the transport industry or for field service management applications.
Greenplan has pointed to EPG’s industry experience and its software expertise as motivations for the collaboration.
EPG now plans to develop its TMS portfolio to include use of a route calculation algorithm. On this, Marco Ehrhardt, president of EPG, said: “We have been observing the need on the market for a modern and high-performance TMS solution for some time.
“With Greenplan’s solution, we have now found the ideal complement in the form of a unique and powerful algorithm that can be optimally integrated into our TMS.”
