Mobility solutions provider Hyundai Motor has announced a partnership with TeamViewer, which provides remote connectivity and workplace digitalisation solutions, to support the digitalisation of operations and manufacturing processes for the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center in Singapore (HMGICS).
TeamViewer and Hyundai Motor Company have said they will cooperate on bringing the benefits of digitalisation to HMGICS’ smart factory through use of TeamViewer’s augmented reality (AR) platform, which includes mixed reality (MR) and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
Some of the intended uses of the AR platform are in assembly, maintenance, quality management, logistics, client experience projects and workforce training processes.
Part of the partnership will include shared R&D into the use of AR in smart factory operations, developing workers’ digital experience and adopting AI solutions to support the functions of an automotive facility.
The hope is that increased digitalisation and IoT solutions will improve productivity, accuracy, safety and efficiency at the site and that solutions will eventually be scaled up to offer global benefits.
Hong Bum Jung, CEO of HMGICS, said: “We are pleased to have TeamViewer as a key technology partner for digital transformation in building a smart factory.
“Developing an intelligent manufacturing platform is an important part of Hyundai’s strategy to lead the future mobility industry.
“We are continuously innovating the overall mobility value chain, which includes presenting a vision for a future mobility smart factory.
“We expect the partnership will further accelerate our transition to smart factory and enhance its efficiency.”
One of the key ambitions behind the development of HMGICS was to provide a test bed and innovation centre for new electric vehicle (EV) business models, mobility partnerships, mobility products and intelligent manufacturing.
