An autonomous security robot (ASR) has been credited for helping to reduce crime in Huntington Park, Los Angeles County, California.
Developed by Knightscope, an advanced security technology company based in Silicon Valley, the K5 ASR was deployed by Huntington Park Police Department in the Salt Lake Park area between June and December 2019.
In crime statistics made publicly available by the police, compared to the same five-month time period one year prior, there was a 10% reduction in calls for service; a 46% reduction in crime reports; a 27% increase in arrests; and a 68% reduction in citations.
William Santana Li, chairman and chief executive officer, Knightscope, said: “I am simply elated that Knightscope was able to assist the City of Huntington Park and its citizens to enjoy greater peace of mind when visiting Salt Lake Park.
“Our long-term vision is to make the USA the safest country on the planet, and this is a meaningful step in the right direction.”
