Robotics and artificial intelligence technologies provider Knightscope has been chosen by AFWERX, the innovation arm of the Department of the Air Force, for a Phase I SBIR contract to streamline and improve Air Force Installation Security procedures and outcomes.Â
Knightscope will be responsible for researching and evaluating internal and perimeter security approaches, as well as assessing existing solutions, and exploring new ideas to adress concerns by the US Air Force.
The company will do this using its autonomous security robots to improve safety of defence assets and personnel.
Under the contact, Knightscope will evaluate how best to use autonomous security robots (ASRs), to encounter emerging threats, which lays the foundation for future pilots across the US military, federal enforcement, as well as civilian agencies.
William Santana Li, Chairman and CEO, Knightscope, said: “This initial SBIR [contract] award marks the beginning of our expanded focus on the federal public sector and highlights the transformative potential of our technology to make America safer and stronger.”
