Simbe Robotics, an inventory solutions provider, has partnered with Fast Radius, a cloud platform manufacturer, to secure critical components for its new inventory robot, Tally 3.
Tally 3, which can reportedly capture 15,000 to 30,000 products an hour, is an autonomous retail robot designed to increase productivity and customer satisfaction by collecting inventory data in retail environments.
Simbe said it selected Fast Radius’ cloud manufacturing platform because of its reported flexible production abilities, which increase the speed at which products reach the market when compared to conventional manufacturing processes.
Simbe sought to achieve precise results with less expensive manufacturing methods, namely urethane casting, to rapidly grow its robot fleet to meet increasing retailer demand.
“Given the current and sustained supply-chain disruptions felt across industries, when we were looking to accelerate production of our Tally robots, it was critical for us to find a partner who could keep costs low while delivering on the quality and durability that you typically only get from high-volume manufacturing,” said Owen Davies, director of hardware engineering at Simbe Robotics.
“Working with Fast Radius, we’ve been able to deploy nearly 200 robots globally with industrial-grade quality, all while staying agile enough to continue innovating.
“Having a flexible and reliable supply chain through Fast Radius has helped us grow our business and widely distribute Tally robots.”
Through its partnership with Fast Radius, Simbe claims to have saved more than US$30,000 (£25,300) in engineering costs and maintained the flexibility to refine and change designs as needed to accommodate evolving product requirements and new technology.
Other customers using Fast Radius platform include Rawlings, Steelcase and Curtiss.
