The University of Salford’s North of England Robotics Innovation Centre (NERIC) is set to host a workshop on 12 November for SMEs looking to gain a competitive edge through robotics and automation.
As part of its SME programme the NERIC, due to open next year, will be running a full-day interactive workshop online this Friday titled Gaining Competitive Edge with Robotics and Automation.
The workshop aims to provide an overview of the current state of the robotics sector, a virtual tour of the robotics laboratory and guidance on some of the different approaches to designing, planning and implementing robotic technology.
Some SMEs may also be eligible for a two-hour consultation meeting with a member of NERIC’s team of robotics and automation advisors.
When complete NERIC will house cutting-edge robotics, manufacturing labs and teaching space, acting as a hub for SMEs looking for support with innovations in the field of robotics and automation.
Focus areas for the ÂŁ16m centre include robotics for intelligent infrastructure, digital automation and supply chain improvement. SMEs will be able to access world-leading experts in the field and work collaboratively to identify opportunities and validate new technologies in preparation for real-world deployment.
As previously reported by Robotics & Innovation, early this year the NERIC received an additional ÂŁ3.6m in funding from Research England, part of UK Research and Innovation, to accelerate innovation and research in robotics.
