TM Robotics, Toshiba Machine’s distribution partner, has announced the European launch of its latest SCARA robot and other industrial automation solutions.
The THE600 reportedly advances the specifications of the existing THE400 SCARA robot to meet “growing demand for fast-cycle automation”.
Featuring improvements in synchronised control and tracking precision, the THE600 is suitable for the assembly and inspection process of electronics equipment and automobile components.
And according to TM Robotics, the new model boasts twice the speed and 60% higher payload capacity than competing SCARA robots in the same price range.
Nigel Smith, president of TM Robotics, said: “The new THE600 model promises to boost manufacturers’ productivity and is an ideal investment for those new to automation.”
As well as the THE600, other new products include the TS5000 Controller and TP5000 Teach Pendant, both of which have been developed with Industry 4.0 in mind.
Weighing 10kg with dimensions of 370mm width, 150mm height and 355mm depth, the new TS5000 Controller is 33% smaller than existing versions, allowing for easy installation and resulting in minimal impact on the factory footprint.
Furthermore, the TP5000 Teach Pendant features a 7″ widescreen colour touch-sensitive panel with a split-screen display that enables programmes and data to be checked instantaneously and be displayed side-by-side.
And in related news, Toshiba Machine has announced that, as of April 2020, it will change its corporate name to Shibaura Machine Co.
The renaming of the company, which was initially founded as Shibaura Machine Tool Co. in 1938, reflects its formal separation from the larger Toshiba Corporation in 2017.
