Berkshire Grey, a developer of AI-enabled robotics designed to automate supply chain processes, has announced the launch of its AI-powered robotic shuttle put wall (RSPW) solution for fast and efficient e-commerce order fulfilment.
The RSPW increases capacity and throughput with robotic automation to enable retailers to be more competitive and meet escalating consumer demand despite labour shortages.
According to Berkshire Grey, the solution can accommodate up to nearly 100% of typical SKU assortments, including challenging items such as soft polybags and cylinders/tubes for a variety of industries including apparel, footwear, beauty, and general merchandise.
Furthermore, the RSPW can increase customer order sortation throughput by up to 300% with the solution’s high capacity put wall; integrate with existing fulfilment processes with no disruption to ongoing operations; and provide sort locations for up to 240 orders to be processed at the same time in a single robotic put wall as opposed to the industry average of 80 orders for a manual put wall.
In addition, the RSPW can improve upstream batch inventory pick rates by up to 33%; perform millions of picks in production; support 24/7 order fulfilment; and integrate with existing operations including robotic, conveyer, and manual-based transport approaches.
“E-commerce continues to grow and surge. Our automation enables retailers to increase capacity to meet the growing demand and helps to deliver efficient revenue growth,” said Tom Wagner, founder and CEO at Berkshire Grey. “This new platform increases order processing speeds, optimises the fulfilment workforce, and most importantly gets more orders out the door more quickly.”
Berkshire Grey’s portfolio of intelligent enterprise robotics is designed to support order fulfilment needs across the supply chain for multiple industries including e-commerce, same-day grocery, package handling, and retail. The company’s services include installation, testing and commissioning, and support leveraging cloud-based AI solutions that provide predictive maintenance, management of system operations, analytics, and integration.
Berkshire Grey’s automated solutions are available via Robotics-as-a-Service implementation models, enabling adoption of automation technology without upfront capital expenditures.
