Amazon’s autonomous vehicle subsidiary Zoox has acquired Strio.AI, a Boston-based robotics start-up developing agricultural automation and AI solutions, as it plans to open a new R&D site in Boston.
Ruijie He, previously the CEO and co-founder of Strio.AI, will join as Zoox’s new director of perception. While four senior engineers will also join Zoox to bring computer vision and robotics knowledge to the team.
According to Zoox, this team of engineers brings highly sought-after and needed skill sets, as well connections in the Boston area.
A statement from Zoox, said: “These new team members will be a catalyst for Zoox, both applying their abilities in the short term as well as opening an exciting avenue of growth for our talent pool in the long term.
