Bristol-based marine robotics company Vaarst has announced that ocean services provider DeepOcean has become a repeat customer for its SubSLAM X2 technology.
The SubSLAM X2 system – recently verified as the most accurate real-time underwater measuring system– enables highly accurate 3D measurements and reconstructions. This allows it to detect the smallest defects on marine-based assets and maintain good accuracy on longer range measurement. It does all of this while delivering real-time 3D imaging to any device in the world.
DeepOcean originally worked with Vaarst in June 2021 to provide an alternative to traditional video camera technologies. The ocean services business said it soon found that the SubSLAM X2 system was helping it achieve time and cost savings, without sacrificing the high-standard of work their clients have come to expect.
Having seen the potential of the SubSLAM technology, DeepOcean have now purchased a second system.

Because the data the SubSLAM system collects can also be streamed live to on-shore locations, the use of SubSLAM will also reduce the size of survey crews, and therefore the vessels it charters – supporting DeepOcean’s commitment to reducing CO2 emissions by 45% within 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2040.
