CEO of Tesla Elon Musk has said it expects to be using humanoid robots in its factories by next year.
In a post on X, the CEO said the company will have “genuinely useful humanoid robots in low production” by next year, and hopes to have ‘high production’ volumes ready by 2026.
The deadlines surrounding the company’s flagship humanoid robot, named Optimus, have already been pushed back.
A prototype of the robot was debuted in 2022 at an event hosted by the car and tech manufacturer.
The X owner hopes the robots will one day be mass-produced and cost less than US$20,000 (£15,491) per unit.
Previously, Musk said he expected the robot to be ready for use internal use within Tesla factories by the end of 2024 and that Optimus would be on sale by the end of next year.
