Rockwell Automation a provider of solutions for industrial automation and digital transformation, has unveiled plans to establish a new manufacturing hub in Chennai, India, marking a strategic move to fortify its presence in the Asia Pacific region and beyond.
The company also hopes to establish a more sustainable and resilient supply chain in the area through the new facility.
The 98,000ft2, designed for potential expansion, aims to bolster Rockwell’s supply chain resilience and sustainability objectives.
India, boasting the world’s fifth-largest economy with rapid growth, holds considerable sway over global economic dynamics, particularly in trade, investment, and innovation.
Rockwell’s decision to invest in India underscores its commitment to leveraging the country’s economic potential, the company said in a statement.
The new facility, situated in proximity to Rockwell’s existing CUBIC manufacturing site, is poised to optimise supply chain efficiency while fostering career opportunities.
“We selected this location because we can create synergies with our existing CUBIC facility and increase agility and productivity in the region,” said Dilip Sawhney, managing director – India, Rockwell Automation.
“We’re excited about building our presence in India, optimising our manufacturing on a global scale, and enhancing the future of industrial operations in this growing market.”
The impending inauguration of the Chennai facility in the first half of 2025 is expected to employ approximately 230 workers by year-end, signalling Rockwell’s dedication to advancing industrial operations in India’s burgeoning market.
