Market research company Frost & Sullivan has released analysis, which suggests that the evolution of automated manufacturing is leading to a shift away from manual metrology solutions towards automated ones.
With growing number of automated solutions designed to ease shop-floor processes comes an accompanying need to perform measurements without human intervention to minimise errors and reduce inspection time. This, the research firm claims, triggers the demand for robot-based metrology tools across a range of industries.
What’s more, the robot-based metrology market is expected to reach US$396.2m (£345m) by 2026 from US$189.9m (£165.3m) in 2021, which marks a CAGR of 15.8%.
“With Industry 4.0, automated manufacturing is evolving and further paving the way for automated measurements,” said Shruti Bapusaheb Yewale, industrial research analyst at Frost & Sullivan.
“Additionally, it will be critical for industries to integrate measurement and closed-loop control with automated manufacturing processes in the next five years.
“As manufacturers ramp up production and focus on maximising product quality, the demand for engineers with the right skillsets will surge.
“However, the shortage of such technicians will further compel companies to adopt automation through robotics in metrology, particularly in North America and Europe.”
