The demand for efficient and scalable storage and fulfilment systems has increased dramatically in recent years as companies have faced labour challenges, rising costs and ever-evolving customer demands.
According to marketing firm Social Shepherd, in 2021, retail e-commerce sales reached an estimated US$4.9tn (£3.8tn) globally, with this number expected to grow by 56% during the next three years to reach US$8.1tn (£6.4tn) by 2026.
Robotic systems can be deployed by e-commerce distributors and logistics providers to increase throughput, boost productivity and optimise storage capacity and reduce reliance on manual labour.
Through use of Opto, KPI Solution’s warehouse execution system (WES), Movu’s product movement and order fulfilment tasks can be managed in real time, enabling optimisation of assets and coordination with staff labour, the companies have said.
This can likewise reduce costs per individual pick, with Ron Adams, CCO of KPI adding that the pair plan on delivering “tailored, scalable and agile solutions for [their] clients” through the partnership.
End-to-end automation will help customers by “optimising storage space and elevating distribution performance, as well as enabling growth and building competitive advantage”, Adams added.
“We are very excited to announce our partnership with KPI Solutions. Our decision was based on both companies’ dedication not only to the short term but the long-term advancement of our industry,” added Nate Richter, president, Movu US.
“Together we can deliver advanced and innovative solutions for our customers with Movu’s comprehensive suite of automated technologies and systems. We view this relationship with KPI as a true collaboration, dedicated to excellence, innovation and future with limitless possibilities.”
