Cargo handling solutions provider Kalmar has introduced its robotic portfolio – a range of intelligent, flexible and autonomous mobile equipment solutions designed to improve safety and eco-efficiency without compromising productivity.
The portfolio will consist of the Kalmar RoboTractor, RoboLifter, RoboStacker and RoboHandler, with prototypes currently being tested at different sites around the world.
Kalmar said its goal is to make automation and robotics technologies accessible to new customer segments, including distribution centres and heavy logistics, in addition to ports and terminals.
With the introduction of the new portfolio Kalmar, part of Cargotec, aims to enhance its well-established automation offering with self-driving solutions that will be capable of operating in mixed-traffic environments in the future.
According to the company, by moving intelligence to equipment from central systems, robotised solutions do not require heavy investment in infrastructure. Their flexibility and scalability make them particularly suited to smaller equipment fleets.
Additionally, the equipment in the Kalmar Robotic Portfolio will be built on a standardised platform, meaning it will be simple and cost effective to deploy with the help of cloud technologies, as well as being fully compatible with Kalmar automation solutions.
