Vacuum tool specialist Piab has unveiled a new solution, the OVM Pro 3D, a digital tool, which was designed to speed up and simplify the configuration, simulation and optimisation of vacuum systems.
“OVM Pro 3D represents a major leap forward for the design of vacuum systems,” said Josef Karbassi, acting president of the vacuum automation division.
Building on its experience in vacuum automation engineering, Piab developed OVM Pro 3D to simplify the system design process for global customers.
“We wanted to make configuration and optimisation of vacuum-driven systems accessible to anyone,” added Johnny Skagersjö, senior application engineer of the vacuum automation division.
After more than two years of development, OVM Pro 3D leverages 3D modelling and simulation to streamline design processes online, enhancing control, efficiency and cost savings, Piab said.
The tool is now available on and offers features aimed at improving user experience and providing detailed performance insights.
Key features include comprehensive design integration, detailed text and symbols guidance, a lifting force graph and energy consumption visualisation.
Users can also benefit from performance data positioning, tube length management and supportive graphs.
“All these features enable the design of top-performing vacuum systems even without prior experience,” Karbassi noted.
A key function is its application for corrugated cardboard, which includes a step-by-step guide for defining carton box parameters and optimising vacuum system dimensions.
Looking ahead, Piab plans to continue innovating and expanding the tool’s functionalities.
“OVM Pro 3D offers a more efficient, accurate and customisable approach to vacuum handling, but our work will continue to eliminate any obstacles customers may face,” Karbassi concluded.
