OnRobot, a provider of hardware and software solutions for collaborative robot (cobot) applications, has launched a new automated platform for cobot deployment in Asia Pacific (APAC).
OnRobot exhibited its cobot application solutions at Robotics and Automation 2022.
The cobot solutions company claims that the D:PLOY platform supports users to build, run, oversee and re-deploy robotic applications from a single platform, which its says offers organisations savings of up to 90% on deployment and redeployment time.
What’s more, OnRobot claims D:PLOY is compatible with most ‘leading’ collaborative or a light industrial robots.
On the launch, Enrico Krog Iversen, CEO of OnRobot, said: ““D:PLOY is set to benefit manufacturers, system integrators, distributors and robot manufacturers.
“As deployment and redeployment become drastically faster, easier and less complex, manufacturers of all sizes can increase productivity and solve their labour shortage challenges.
“System integrators can complete more projects in less time for greater returns while distributors can tap into new customer segments.
“Robot manufacturers can expect higher sales from greater automation adoption.
“D:PLOY is an automation and market enabler for the entire industry.”
The platform is designed to simplify the deployment of robotic applications directly on the manufacturing floor, with features including the automatic discovery of hardware and the mapping of obstacle-free routes, OnRobot claims.
What’s more, OnRobot points to some of the platform’s time-saving features, including the need for no programming after installation. This is because it claims to have developed D:PLOY to automatically generate program logic, signals exchange, events handling and path planning for whole applications.
D:PLOY is likewise set-up to offer operational efficiency by optimising path-finding and solving any singularities that may occur, which could otherwise cause an end-effector to be blocked from moving in some directions.
Some of its other reported features include indicators of performance, application-specific metrics that can be accessed in real time and the ability to flexibly respond to changes in production needs.
The platform is intended for wider commercial availability in December 2022, with its first release reportedly targeting central manufacturing applications such as palletising, material handling and CNC machine tending.
The company has announced intentions to cover further applications, such as in process and assembly, in further releases.
Off the back of the APAC launch, OnRobot points to the fact that Asia remains the world’s largest market for industrial robots and that it represented 74% of all new robot deployments in 2021.
