Minitab, LLC, a specialist in data analytics and process improvement, has announced a new partnership with HMS Networks, a solution provider in industrial data and communication technology.
Minitab supports organisations in the identification of trends and problems through data insights.
Its new partner, HMS Networks, has added a data capture to its Ewon Flexy solution so information can be imported into a Minitab solution for automated analysis.
It is hoped that the partnership will offer customers the ability to turn data into actionable information through the utilisation of analytics with reduced deployment timelines and proven compatibility within a secure Azure environment.
What’s more, the agreement will offer HMS customers access to training and support from Minitab and HMS to ensure that organisations can make effective use of the system.
“Almost all companies recognise that data is crucial for success, yet still 97% of them are challenged with using that data effectively,” said Paul Engle, director of global partnerships at Minitab.
Research commissioned by the UK government revealed that almost half of businesses (48%) are currently recruiting workers with hard data skills. However, just under half of companies (46%) have found recruitment for these positions challenging.
Building on this, Engle added: “The partnership between Minitab and HMS provides a proven collaboration to unlock the collection and analysis of a company’s process data to reveal actionable insights into process improvement and risk mitigation, with greatly reduced deployment timelines and challenges.”
One key roadblock to statistical analysis is data collection, according to HMS.
Tom McKinney, director engineering services and partnerships at HMS Networks, explained that it is often the case that the parameters being collected ‘are already leveraged by the automated production system’.
He continued: “The Ewon Flexy remote data gateway can be configured to pull tag data from any PLC or HMI through a simple web page interface. This is how this partnership creates great value to our customers.”
HMS Networks is a sponsor of the first-ever Robotics & Automation Awards, as well as a finalist in the Industry 4.0, Industrial Innovation and Innovative Use of Artificial Intelligence categories.
