Kuka has announced the launch of a new product series in the 30-70kg (66-154 lb) payload category.
KR Iontec, which succeeds Kuka’s KR 60-3 solution, can be used on floors, on walls or inclined.
With a maximum reach of 3.1m (10.1ft), KR Iontec reportedly has the largest work envelope in its class.
The reduced space requirements of the robot, with a 30% smaller footprint and a 10% more streamlined disruptive contour, additionally enable a more compact cell design.
According to Kuka, KR Iontec features the lowest maintenance requirements in its class.
Due to the reduced energy consumption, resulting from improved drive technology and decreased weight of the robot, the running costs are also lower.
What’s more, technical availability is over 99% and the mean time between failures is around 400,000 hours of operation.
KR Iontec is ready to use in both conventional and digital production worlds and is equipped with various motion modes.
These software add-ons can be used to adapt the robot to different production processes.
For example, Performance Mode ensures high performance, dynamics and efficiency as standard; Path Mode enables exact continuous-path motion; and Dynamic Mode can be used to minimise cycle times.
Delivery of the first KR Iontec models is scheduled for April.
