IntraLogisteX 2020 exhibitors Hikrobot and OW Robotics (OWR) have partnered in a move designed to make robotic automation more accessible for SMEs and larger organisations in the UK.
Chinese manufacturer Hikrobot develops advanced industrial technology including robots, machine vision and unmanned aerial vehicles.
OWR is the sister company of OrderWise, a UK provider of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and warehouse management software (WMS).
The partnership will see OWR initially offer a range of four Hikrobot goods-to-person, a-to-b and production line solutions, including the company’s new CTU robot and omnidirectional Forklift Mobile Robot.
Shawn Huo, Hikrobot’s general manager for overseas business, said: “OWR has an exceptional reputation and with decades of experience in the warehouse and order fulfilment space, we’re really excited to be working in partnership.
“With a really strong heritage in delivering warehouse operations for 3PL, wholesale and retail customers; and developing WMS and ERP software, this is a natural alliance that will break down barriers to bring game-changing robotic automation to more UK warehouses.”
Fully integrated with OWR software, sales orders can trigger robots to collect specific racks; and manufacturing requests can automatically mobilise the production line.
Robots perform upon receiving instruction to reduce delay and improve order accuracy.
David Hallam, CEO of OWR, said: “Thanks to our new partnership with Hikrobot, an integrated warehouse solution with the world’s best robotic automation is no-longer out of reach for many.
“Faster fulfilment and increased accuracy is now possible without the need for expensive infrastructure and it’s all achievable whilst reducing operational costs too.”
At the end of 2019, Hikrobot had deployed 2,000 robots outside of China, with end-user businesses reportedly experiencing average efficiency improvements of about 90% and labour cost savings of 50%.
OWR has prepared a live demonstration zone at its headquarters in Lincoln for UK businesses interested in seeing the Hikrobot machines.
Protocols and procedures are in place to ensure adherence to current social distancing requirements for visitors, said OWR.
