Digimarc, a developer of digital watermarking technologies, has partnered with Omron, a provider of industrial automation solutions, to improve digital product identification and industrial automation.
Through this strategic partnership, the pair will combine Digimarc’s digital watermarks with Omron’s machine vision technology, to offer manufacturers and brands in this space new tools that leverage the two companies’ specific expertise.
“Brands are under pressure to comply with industry regulations, streamline operations and meet consumer demands for quality, authenticity and sustainability,” said Ken Sickles, chief product officer at Digimarc.
“Our partnership with Omron delivers a solution that increases efficiency, meets quality standards and provides real-time data insights.”
A key motivation behind combining expertise comes from a need for industrial automation systems to address critical operational and consumer safety concerns. For instance, labelling errors in food products can lead to life-threatening allergen exposures.
Automated control and quality checks are essential to prevent such mismatches.
The Digimarc-Omron solution is intended to modernise industrial automation by preventing mismatched components or mislabeled products, speeding up production and streamlining distribution.
What’s more, the system also reportedly enhances the recovery, sorting and recycling of packaging materials, reducing environmental waste and improving post-consumer recyclate quality.
Fernando Colás, CEO of Omron Industrial Automation EMEA, highlighted the partnership’s benefits, saying: “Integrating Digimarc’s digital watermarking with our machine vision solutions offers innovative packaging solutions that reduce waste and prevent mislabeling.”
Together, Digimarc and Omron unlock new capabilities for industrial automation. Their integrated solution allows machines to quickly and accurately identify, inspect and trace products, improving efficiency, quality, traceability, security and compliance.
“This collaboration not only modernises industrial facilities but also adds value throughout the product lifecycle, supporting future challenges and consumer expectations with minimal investment.
