Maxon has introduced the MicroMACS6, an ultra-compact, programmable multi-axis motion controller designed for up to six axes.
Measuring 55mm in length and weighing 26g, the controller was developed to enhance embedded design integration for robotics and machine builders, making it well-suited for mobile robots, including automated guided vehicles (AGVs).
The MicroMacS6 reportedly offers integration with USB, CANopen and EtherCAT interfaces. It also is suitable for kinematic applications such as Delta, SCARA and lightweight robots, as well as pick-and-place systems, improving productivity and efficiency.
The controller can be used to coordinate multiple axes as a kinematics group or control each axis individually, supporting Maxon Epos4 position controllers and Maxon Escon speed controllers. It provides advanced motion functions like path generation, position and velocity control feed forward, and position marker/touch probe.
The MicroMacS6 features six digital inputs, two programmable analog inputs with 12-bit resolution, and four digital outputs with 25kHz PWM capability.
A DIP switch allows for easy Node ID configuration and CAN Bus Termination settings.
Supporting CANopen protocol as both a master and slave and offering EtherCAT compatibility, the controller provides simplified integration, according to Maxon.
The solution can operate reliably in temperatures from -30°C to 55°C and humidity up to 90%, with a logic supply voltage between 8V and 28V.
