Israeli surgical robotics company ForSight Robotics has raised US$10m (£7.2m) in a seed round to further develop its ophthalmological surgery robotic platform.
The funding round was led by Eclipse Ventures and Mithril Capital. The investment will be used to enable the robotics firm to bring its offerings to international markets, pending regulatory approvals.
ForSight’s platform aims to transform eye surgery by applying technology in microsurgical robotics. The platform harnesses computer visualisation and machine-learning to automate the precise surgery.
The platform also provides manoeuvrability with six degrees of freedom, enabling it to complete intricate tasks with microsurgical instruments.
The solution also features stereoscopic imaging technologies for surgical planning and real-time image guidance.
Daniel Glozman, CEO of ForSight, said: “All physicians around the world will be able to perfect this procedure and perform ophthalmic procedures in a more uniform way.”
