Seoul, South Korea-based Bigwave Robotics has introduced its Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) model specifically designed for hospitals.
The RaaS programme allows hospitals to delegate non-medical tasks – such as delivery, guidance, and cleaning – to service robots, all managed through a centralised system.
Bigwave’s offering includes selecting the most suitable robots for each hospital, overseeing their deployment, and developing operational scenarios tailored to specific needs.

Also known as the My Robot Solution, Bigwave has already implemented robotic services in several hospitals, including Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital, Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center Suwon Hospital, and Hallym University Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital.
Maintaining high cleanliness standards, transporting medications and specimens, and assisting visitors are critical tasks for hospitals.
The Covid-19 pandemic has intensified staffing shortages, while an aging population in South Korea has led to increased demand for medical services. These factors shaped the development of the company’s robots.
In addition to healthcare, Bigwave offers RaaS across various industries such as logistics and manufacturing.
The company’s range of robotic technologies includes cleaning robots, guide robots, delivery robots, serving robots, industrial robot arms, collaborative robots, and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), along with grippers and other peripheral components.
Bigwave claims its robots can maintain hospital cleanliness around the clock.
For first-time visitors to the hospitals and elderly patients, the robots provide navigation assistance.
In August, the company deployed its cleaning robots at Incheon International Airport in Korea, using eight Gausium Ecobot VC40 units for dry cleaning and four large SC75 units capable of both dry and wet cleaning.
The VC40s are designated for carpeted areas, while the SC75s are intended for marble surfaces. The SOLink system allows for remote assignment of cleaning tasks and scheduling at designated times.
Innovations and achievements in outdoor robotics will be highlighted and celebrated at the second annual Robotics & Automation Awards on 06 November 2024 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
