Dutch startup Smart Robotics has secured substantial investment in a round led by VC Innovation Industries and the Toyota-backed Mirai Creation Fund II.
The company, which combines robotics with AI to enable the fast and flexible deployment of robots, will use the undisclosed amount to accelerate the rollout of its palletising and item picking applications, as well as for the development of new software applications.
Mark Menting, founder and managing director of Smart Robotics, said: “We are excited to have VC Innovation Industries and Mirai on board as investors. Both parties bring valuable experience to the table in terms of scaling up a high-tech company.”
Established in 2015 by Menting and Heico Sandee, Smart Robotics’ AI-based software platform is designed to enable fast deployment of cobots across industries such as logistics, packaging, FMCG, pharma, and e-commerce.
According to the company, the software configures and reconfigures cobots in such a way that it negates the need for further programming, thus speeding up the process of setting up a cobot to within a few minutes.
