MassRobotics, which calls itself the world’s largest independent robotics hub, has announced that its resident start-ups have collectively raised more than US$1bn (£757m) in venture funding since its inception in 2017.
This milestone highlights the organisation’s work in advancing robotics innovation, commercialisation and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies.
Hosting more than 85 robotics startups from around the globe, MassRobotics provides entrepreneurs with essential resources, including workspace, programming and industry connections, enabling them to develop, prototype, and commercialise their technologies.
Executive director Tom Ryden emphasised that the organisation’s mission is to support startups by offering the resources and insights needed for growth, leading to successful outcomes.
The US$1bn raised represents investments from nearly 300 institutional investors, signalling a growing interest in robotics from the venture capital community, the company said.
Start-ups at MassRobotics are leading in industries such as manufacturing, defence and logistics, reflecting the broad applicability and potential of robotics technology.
MassRobotics’ custom-built space in Boston offers flexible growth opportunities, allowing startups to scale efficiently.
The organisation’s support also extends beyond physical space, providing access to critical resources and expert mentorship, making it a vital asset to Boston’s startup ecosystem.
“The mission of MassRobotics has always been about supporting our resident startups with the resources they need to grow and to work with academia and industry partners to provide deep, relevant industry insights that help new startups with their product focus,” added Ryden.
“This formula leads to successful outcomes, and this funding milestone is another proof point of this.”
