StrongPoint, a grocery technology provider, has announced that it has been chosen to design and install what it calls the ‘world’s first’ AutoStore solution designed specifically for food management.
The solution will reportedly be equipped with three temperature zones: ambient, chilled and frozen. StrongPoint also claims to be AutoStore’s first and only grocery-focused distribution partner.
AutoStore’s solution was developed to automate the storage and retrieval of frozen food items, with previous products only having chilled and ambient capabilities.
Standard practice for grocery retailers is to use manual picking for frozen items for e-fulfilment processes.
“This is a great day for grocery retailers and food management companies looking at automation to boost efficiency as they can now automate all three temperature zones,” said Jacob Tveraabak, CEO of StrongPoint.
“We are proud to have the honour of installing a world first for AutoStore and look forward to leveraging our 35+ years’ experience in food management and grocery retail to create the world’s first and best fully automated solution purpose built for groceries.”
What’s more, StrongPoint also claims to provide solutions to many leading European grocery retailers.
Norwegian food distribution company, Dlvry, will receive the solution once it’s been designed, to deploy in its facility based in Sveio, Norway.
