British robotics and kitchen automation company Karakuri has unveiled its new family of /FRYR automated frying robots.
Designed to help restaurants save time and reduce waste, the /FRYR210 model is the first in a range of automated fry lines and combines robotics and real-time data analysis to reportedly produce up to 130 lb (60kg) of French fries per hour.
What’s more, the /FRYR210 has been designed to improve food quality and consistency by ensuring standard operating procedures is always adhered to, while the model’s automation is reportedly compatible with existing fry wells, extraction and fire suppression.
According to Karakuri, this can reduce employee time with the fryer and encourage them to pursue more value-adding tasks, such as customer interaction.
“With more than £22bn of French fries eaten each year globally, frying is a massive business,” said Barney Wragg, CEO and co-founder of Karakuri. “Every restaurant knows that serving consistently crispy, fluffy fries will keep customers coming back for more.
“Our new family of /FRYR automated fry lines is changing the game for QSR and fast casual restaurants. It strikes the perfect balance of food, people and intelligent automation allowing restaurants to deliver expertly fried food with total consistency and availability, at a price point that works for their bottom line.”
The /FRYR210 is the first in a family of fry line solutions and Karakuri said it plans to expand the /FRYR range in the future to support varying numbers of fry wells and freezers to help meet the cost and capacity demands of restaurants.
Key benefits of the solution include a number of food waste reduction features, such as portion control technology that helps fill fry baskets with the appropriate amount; real-time monitoring and prediction of frozen food levels, including staff alerts for restocking; energy efficiency features, including temperature control and functions to increase oil lifespan; and a design to support easy installation, including a reduced physical footprint that can enable overnight installation.
The /FRYR210 is now available and retails at a starting price of US$2,100 (£1,872) per month and initial installations are scheduled for Q3 2022.
