Coop has become the first grocery store chain in Estonia to launch a Cleveron 501 grocery robot.
It follows the successful conclusion of a three-month test period at a Coop site at Laagri Maksimarket on the outskirts of Tallinn.
Capable of storing fast-moving consumer goods and frozen food, Cleveron 501 is designed to offer a fast and convenient curbside service for Coop’s online shoppers.
Customers choose a pick-up time and receive a retrieval code once their order is ready.
Upon arrival at the robot, the customer enters the code and receives their items seconds later.
The project was launched in two weeks, despite the current circumstances, according to Cleveron CEO Arno Kütt.
And speaking about the advantages of the system, Coop Estonia’s e-commerce manager, Mait Mäesalu, said: “The capacity is twice as big and the loading process is much quicker compared to regular grocery lockers.”
What’s more the robotic click and collect solution can be installed in varioius locations, such as business districts and traffic junctions, to offer a fast and convenient pick-up option.
