Chef Robotics, a developer of AI-powered food automation, has announced it has raised US$43.1m in a combination of equity and debt financing.
This brings the company’s total capital raised to approximately US$65.6m, including US$38.8m in equity and US$26.75m in equipment financing. The latest funding round was led by Avataar Venture Partners, with notable contributions from Construct Capital, Bloomberg Beta, and several other venture firms.
The debt portion of the financing was provided by Silicon Valley Bank, now a division of First Citizens Bank, and will be used to support Chef Robotics’ development of robotic systems for its Robotics-as-a-Service platform.
This investment comes as Chef Robotics continues to make strides in the food industry, which has been grappling with a severe labour shortage. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, food preparation and service positions accounted for the highest number of unfilled jobs in 2023. In response, Chef Robotics is leveraging AI to build flexible, adaptable robots capable of handling the variable and unpredictable nature of food production.
“Robotics is at an extremely exciting time where AI is unlocking its full potential,” said the company in a statement. “This funding helps us continue our work in bringing flexibility and efficiency to food production, all while addressing the industry’s pressing labour challenges.”
Chef Robotics’ AI-enabled robots have already been deployed across North America, producing more than 44 million servings. With this capital, the company aims to accelerate the advancement of its AI models and expand its customer base. Chef’s systems use real-world data from active production environments to continuously improve, allowing the robots to handle a wide variety of food ingredients and preparations.
The new funds will also enable Chef Robotics to scale its go-to-market efforts, with plans to further expand internationally. The company aims to apply its technology not only in large food production facilities but also in mid-volume environments, such as ghost kitchens, and eventually to small commercial kitchens across the globe.
Achievements and innovations in retail and e-commerce, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, automotive, transport & logistics, and more will be celebrated at the Robotics & Automation Awards on 29 October 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
