Autonomous mobile robot (AMR) manufacturer Locus Robotics has opened its European headquarters in Amsterdam, to serve its current EU and UK customer base and develop new opportunities in warehouse fulfilment and distribution segments.
According to Locus, with warehouse fulfilment volumes increasing globally, access to labour has become a critical issue. Companies are turning to automation to meet demands while keeping labour recruiting, training, and retention costs down. Locus recently passed the half-billion picking milestone and LocusBots is now picking nearly two million items every day.
The new Amsterdam location will assemble and service the company’s AMR solutions for the European market. The company added this will enable faster deployment, management, and support services.
“Our Amsterdam office will allow us the flexibility to support our European clients in real time as the needs of order fulfilment continue to grow around the world,” said Denis Niezgoda, vice president, Europe, Locus Robotics. “We are ideally positioned to scale as their business and operational needs grow.”
Locus will hold an office opening event on 06 October with guided tours of the new facility and access to Locus senior management.
“Our decision to expand our presence in the European market was a logical step in our business growth strategy,” said Rick Faulk, CEO of Locus Robotics. “Choosing Amsterdam gives us a central location that is ideal for serving our customer base, as well as giving us access to a vibrant and diverse talent pool to recruit from.”
