Supermarket chain H-E-B has opened a new e-commerce fulfilment centre in Plano, Texas, which is equipped with automated solutions to support home delivery orders to surrounding stores.
Solutions have been provided by Autostore, supported by Swisslog, including synchronised intelligence from the warehouse automation company’s Synq software.
The integration of automated systems at the site forms part of the retailer’s wider commitment to integrating technology to improve e-commerce fulfilment through its operations.
The 55,000-square-foot facility is just one site in H-E-B’s portfolio; it has partnered with Swisslog at several others to automate its micro-fulfilment centres.
Deploying automation is hoped to address growing demand for online orders and deliveries for the supermarket.
By the end of 2024, H-E-B expects to open further facilities throughout Texas to support its expansion.
