XL Global Group, Aberdeen-based provider of technology and engineering services, recently staged a training week at its Access XL facility in Forfar, Scotland to showcase the latest in robotics and automation from the global provider of turn-key design, assembly and commissioning solutions, Yaskawa.
With delegates attending from a cross section of industries, including oil and gas, food and beverage and manufacturing, XLG teamed up with the global technology provider to discuss and demonstrate a wide range of drives, motion control and robotic solutions.
“We were delighted to host this exciting and informative training week and to offer fellow engineers and operators across numerous industries a truly hands-on robotics experience,” said Mike Fergusson, group sales director, XLG. “Also, we were able to provide the opportunity to see the equipment in action while meeting with Yaskawa’s specialist engineers to discuss conceptual applications and ROI opportunities.”
With two sessions running per day over a three-day period, delegates were able to participate in the programming of multiple different styles of robots, including Yaskawa’s collaborative HC series.
Fergusson further explained that most participants immediately identified applications where the Yaskawa robotics, drives and motion in harness with XL Global Group integrated services could assist in moving their operations forwards.
“Many delegates commented that the event had opened their eyes as to how automation would not only enhance their procedures but also allow far more efficient utilisation of personnel on site,” he added.
Owing to the success of the event, XLG added that there will be more bespoke training sessions planned for 2022 when other industrial partners will co-present technological and engineering solutions for the numerous sectors served by the XLG.
Jonny Grey, UK and Ireland sales and marketing manager for Yaskawa, added: “Yaskawa had an excellent week partnering with system builder XL Global Group to showcase the latest robotic, drive, motion & controls technology available for system automation applications to existing and potential new clients across Scotland and the wider UK.
“We see a lot of opportunity for both companies, working closely together to provide competitive and reliable automation solutions to the market.”
