At Stand 510, Sick UK has set its sights on revolutionising the logistics industry with its latest sensor intelligence solutions, which is taking centre stage at Robotics and Automation 2024.
Known globally for its expertise in auto-identification, safety and Industry 4.0 solutions, Sick is giving attendees live demonstrations featuring collaborative robots and dimensioning, weighing and scanning (DWS) technologies.
Visitors to the stand are being immersed in an array of cutting-edge advancements as Sick’s logistics experts stood ready to guide them through a comprehensive portfolio of solutions.
At the heart of the showcase is the unveiling of the Lector 85x, the latest addition to Sick’s image-based code reading family. With its advanced field of view and extended depth of field, the Lector 85x promises unparalleled reliability in detecting 1D, 2D and stacked codes, according to a stand technician.
Ideal for high-speed conveyor systems, its embedded AI techniques and powerful image processing reportedly ensure swift and accurate tracking even on the fastest-moving conveyors.
In a nod to Industry 4.0’s integration demands, Sick’s solutions demonstrated the amalgamation of dimension and weight data with barcode identification.
Mark Harris, Sick UK’s senior manager – track and trace, South-West Europe, commented: “We cater to a wide spectrum of needs, ranging from static units processing 500 items per hour to cutting-edge high-speed DWS technology, capable of scanning up to 20,000 parcels per hour – all legally certified for trade.
“Our innovative technologies facilitate comprehensive real-time monitoring of auto-identification systems across various sectors including retail, warehousing, courier services, express delivery, parcel handling and postal services.”
Additionally, an installation featuring collaborative robots showcased Sick’s responsive laser scanning solutions, ensuring both productivity and safety in robot cells. With machine vision technologies guiding optimal picking and placing of goods, Sick underscored its commitment to seamless automation.
Jon Slater, sales specialist – intralogistics at SICK, added: “SICK offers a comprehensive range of solutions encompassing auto-identification, including barcoding, safety measures, digitalisation, AI integration, data collection and sensor efficiency.
“The evolution in the industry is evident; where once the focus was solely on detecting presence or absence, now we can gather extensive information to enhance processes and meet both current and future needs.”
