IPL, a leading packaging provider delivering sustainable solutions to the food, consumer, agricultural, logistics and environmental end-markets, is showcasing its range of injected-moulded packaging solutions at Robotics and Automation 2022.
As visitors are learning, the Rotherham-based company produces and develops automation containers designed to work with all automation systems and conveyors, with robot handling, robot picking and product loading.
Designed for use by companies that need to store solutions in an automated warehouse, Kevin Youens, head of UK and European automation plastic container sales and product development at IPL, said: “We’re the people who make the plastic part that fits into that, where they put their product into.
“This all integrates with playbooks and warehouse management systems, basically everything – all the products that we expect to find in various operations as well as retail, food, fashion, general merchandise, pharmaceuticals – those market areas are where most of these types of boxes will be found.”
According to Youens, IPL’s latest solution is focused on micro-fulfilment for home shopping delivery services. “Ocado uses our tote boxes for its storage and delivery systems and we manufacture for Amazon and several other big companies.
“It’s a very good industry, which is growing rapidly and we’ve been in the market with our own product, which we’ve got on the stand now.
“We actually launched it at the Robotics and Automation several years ago and, since then, we’ve developed the product range, extended the product range and have had our first major customers.
“This year’s show is the busiest one we’ve ever attended.”
Among the products being showcased by IPL is the Sheridan tote, which has been designed to meet the needs of conveying and automated warehouse applications and includes the latest FM global requirements for drainage.
Showgoers are also getting to see IPL’s standard trays and the tools for tray applications that it supplies to Tesco and Marks & Spencer.
Youens also explained that IPL has an ongoing R&D operation and offers a service for organisations to design and make their own tooling.
“We can do that from the beginning, where we can help you with the design and development of the tooling and then the manufacturing of that product.”
