The first speakers at next year’s Robotics & Innovation Conference have been revealed, along with details on the inaugural Robotics & Innovation Award.
The RT Hon Ben Wallace MP, secretary of state for defence, Ministry of Defence; Professor Joe Harrison, chief executive, Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation; and Professor Tony Young, national clinical lead for innovation, NHS England & NHS Improvement, have confirmed their participation at the event, which takes place at the Red Bull Technology Centre in Milton Keynes on 27-28 April 2021.
Harrison will discuss the next-generation of surgical robotics in the context of Milton Keynes University Hospital pioneering use of CMR Surgical’s Versius surgical robotic system. He’ll highlight opportunities, limitations and challenges presented by the technology, as well as the potential implications for human surgeons.
Details of Wallace’s and Young’s presentations are still to be confirmed and will be announced via the agenda section of the Robotics & Innovation Conference website.

The inaugural Robotics & Innovation Award will also be up for grabs to entrants of the Pit Lane, an area that will give 10 of the best start-ups, students and up-and-coming engineers the chance to pitch their ideas, concepts and prototypes to influential companies and decision-making personnel who have a genuine interest in the projects being presented.
The best entry will win the Robotics & Innovation Award, which comes with a £5,000 cash prize and an opportunity to make connections with stakeholders that could turn a concept or prototype into reality.
